Ashley focuses on creating a 3 piece painting on herself. The artist she intends to use for her pieces are Edvard Munch, the movement Romanticism . She compares how both artists and art movement collaborate to create a short story in each canvas. The first panel expresses the way she sees herself as a person, while the second one expresses the pathway she would want to attend later on in the future towards the community. Lastly, the third panel expresses the way the community impacts her as being a person living in a big city.

Sketches |
The First thing I did was write a list of some ideas of what kind of a person I am, how the environment has effected me as a person and as well as the people around me, and lastly about how I plan to impact on the word and what I have planned for the future. I also joted down some artists that i can incorporate with my ideas.
Secondly, I sketched out some of the ideas that I had in mind. I had 1 sketch per canvas. the sketches don't have as much detail in them but I sketched out the main idea of what I had in mind to do for each canvas. Then lastly, I began to make my colors that i want to use and after that that I started painting in my ideas onto the canvas. Only doing one canvas at a time and as well as one small part of the canvas each time as well. Panels: |
My sketches include the main idea of what I had in mind. It shows the big picture of what I want to put in each of my canvas's. As well as they are clear enough to see. I had about three sketches, one for each canvas. Before I sketched I already had ideas of what I wanted to draw and paint.
My Ideas: My first idea was to be based on giving my knowledge to the city, so I wanted to incorporate the knowledge symbol onto the canvas to show the big picture of this specific canvas. Then my second idea for the panel of myself I wanted to have a symbolic figure of myself into the piece as well just to represent me as a person. lastly, my third idea just like the rest of my ideas, I want to have a women's body onto the canvas and have a lock on the women's are to represent the main idea that I had for this canvas piece. |

In my panels I decided to do my paintings based on one artist and one art movement. The artist is Edvard Munch and the movement is Surrealism. The artist I was inspired by Edvard Munch and the last two pannels were inspired by the movement, surrealism. The pieces that I was inspired by was Separation and La toile Daligram. For the artist I kept the style that Edvard used in his piece, how he has some kind of brushing style and as well as brushing pattern of having the piece be in a swooshing, curvy design. For the artist in the city and city in the artist I used the piece La toile Daligram because in this piece Salvador Dali used a woman's body as his main part of his piece. Which I wanted to use into mines knowing that that was the main point that I wanted to show overall in my painting. But the only thing that was different compared to his painting was that my body figure wasn't too realistic looking like how his does. Which I wish that I could have done.

ReflectionThis Artist in the city piece was based on our own personalities which I very much liked because it was based on us and only us. It was based on 3 things, our personality, how we affect the city, and how the city affects us. But to be very honest when I heard about this project, I was very confused. I didn't quite know what the exact meaning was, as in I didn't know what was being asked to do. Later on after I was explained to several times of what was actually being asked;I got the idea of what to do. Which then got me going on doing one thing after the other. It was very interesting as well. But I mean all my hard work payed off. I like my paintings very much but I honestly think I could have done a little more on my personality panel(1st panel). As well as the third panel of the lady figure. I believe that if I took the time that I could have painted it more smoothly and as well as having more detail into the piece. But both pieces didn't come out too bad, they seem nice enough to show to others. Next time, I will plan out my ideas more and as well as take the time to do my paintings.

Meaning behind the piece:
The meaning behind the piece is that everything ties into me personally. Like in all of them you'll see some things about me that other's don't really quite know about me. Some of the paintings aren't quite forward into explaining which is good because i'm that kind of person as well, I don't like to just be straight forward I like to give some ideas to people. So I mean this piece all ties into what kind of person I am. My paintings show some out of many things about me like for instance One shows the part of me which is that I'm my own person and that I don't follow others like they think that I do. I like being my own person and as well as knowing who can be a bad influence so that's why I stay away from those people especially throughout my whole life I've been. Secondly, another panel shows how in the future I plan to become a physical therapist and how I want to give the community my commitment and knowledge. Knowing that that's what our community actually needs in order to be successful, having people who are wanting to give those things to help others. Lastly, the 3rd panel represents how the community affects her in general, and to me the community affects me by being insecure about my body and as well as to make sure I keep myself as a women safe in this hectic community where anything can happen. In conclusion these three panels are who I am whether I'm independent or insecure about something, but overall it's who I am.
