Title: The hidden side of Ashley
|
sketchesIn my sketches I have the first one where it shows what type of design ideas I had to put in the portrait. The second was my first idea of how i wanted to draw it out but I didn't really like it, but the last sketch I really liked so I decided to choose that way to draw out my portrait.
Swatches:These are some of my main colors that I used in my piece overall, but there are more colors that I used but are not pictured down below.
Reflection:Looking at my self portrait I feel like I could have changed some things about it. Like the design itself since I changed my design a little bit from my sketch, I think I could have made it nicer and cleaner. But the hardest thing I thought was trying to incorporate the art movement and the artist piece into my self portrait, and as well as the painting itself. The painting process it self was okay , I like how the acrylic dies on the canvas fast because you can see the outcome right away. Also I free sketched my painting so that process was hard as well but I think the outcome is alright. But for sure in the future I know what to expect, as well as maybe later on I can revise this painting too.

Process1.) choose an art movement you want to connect to
2.) Then you pick an artist from that art movement and what piece from there's you want to portray. 3.) Chose images or an image of yourself that you want to use to transmit it on the canvas 4.) start drawing out ideas that you want to elaborate into your piece on drawing paper 5.) Then start sketching on the canvas of your image and ideas put together. 6.)lastly, paint what specific colors you need to use to go into the art movement you used Meaning behind the piece:The meaning behind the piece was that everyone that knows me, knows that I'm not really the girly type of girl because I don't show it a lot. Like I'm the tom girl as you can say. I'm the type of girl that doesn't really care how she is dressed and likes to dress up baggy. But I mean that s who I am. But not everyone knows that I do have some of the girly side in me. So then in my portrait I wanted to show the girly side of me. Since Mucha uses nature such as flowers and natural colors, I thought that could be a way to show that side of me by using those elements to symbolize that side.

2.) Web. 14 Dec. 2015. <http://ep.yimg.com/ty/cdn/carenginecare/Mucha-tapestries-set.jpg>. Mucha's way was based on a strong composition, sensuous curves derived from nature, refined decorative elements and natural colors. The Art Nouveau precepts were used, too, but never at the expense of his vision. I admired the way he interpreted all those into a painting, which I wanted to then use for my self portrait, all those elements into one. When looking at his work I thought they were so beautiful and I wanted to try it out as well. I wanted to incorporate the elegance of his piece into mine, having the nice flowers and nature into my piece so it allows me to show more of the girly side of me. As well as using some of those nice dark tense, and some of the light bright colors that he uses in his piece into mines. But unlike his where he has most of his portraits with the whole body of the women I will be only doing the face part of a women because I just want to show the face features and all instead of the body figure.
