Exhibition text:
In this piece the artist wanted to express the different interpretations men have against on women by using the meadium dry point. She used the artist Rene Magritte as her guidance to creating this piece.
Process:
I already knew what I wanted to do for this studio which was to make a dry point piece. But to make the piece I would have to brainstorm some ideas of what to exactly draw. One main idea that came into my mind was inequality about women and the viewpoints that other had on women. So then after finding out what my theme was I then made a picture in my head of what to draw. The picture that came to my head was drawing a woman with her face covered with a flower. After imaging what I was going to draw I then started sketching that image onto a piece of sketch book paper. But when drawing the image I had to mark the size and shape of the dry point plaques glass onto the paper so that when I draw the image it would be easier to transfer the image onto the plaques glass. Which it was, I placed the sketch underneath the plaques glass and started scratching into the plaques glass over the image but one though in mind is that what ever you scratch into teh plaques glass is going to be black from the ink. Its basically like tracing the image onto the plaques glass. After transferring the image into the plaques glass, the next step would be to start printing the dry point image. These are the steps to printing the drypoint:
1.)Grab the dry point printing sheets and leave it in a bin of water for 8 minutes.
2.) then take it out and take out all the extra water on the paper by placing towels over the sheets and pressing it down on the sheets but not too much though.
3.)Now with the ink spread it out on the template, you only need a little not a lot because it'll be harder to take off.
4.)Remove all ink that didn't go into the carvings you made.
5.)When your done doing that transmit your template drawing onto the paper that was soaking for 8 minutes through the big roller.

Experimentation:
These printings below are the failures I had throughout the process. My first attempts seemed to not have so much ink so I though that maybe adding more ink but not so much ink would make it more clearer and darker as well as carving into the plaques glass a bit more. But when I did so it still did not come out as dark as I wanted it to. So again I decided to add even more ink onto the plaques glass but not carving it anymore, which actually improved the darkness of how it came out. which after 5 tries and experimenting the use of ink and how much to wipe off I finally got my final draft piece of the printing.
Meaning:
The meaning of this piece is to show the different interpretations on people based on their gender. Which in this case of my painting, women. Many men see women as very delicate and weak but in reality women are as strong as men. They contain the same strong will as any other man does. So in this piece I wanted to express woman overall since I am a women my self. I always felt as woman were judged by their gender as not being able to do the same things as men. I always hated how some men felt that way. That is why I chose to do a piece like so, so that I can express my opinion through a visual interpretation. I believe that women should have the right to be equal as me. Overall how I made it seem visual as the women being delicate is by putting flowers in front of her face since flowers in general are very delicate. So by that means flowers to me is a symbol of delicacy. So that it can be seen as how men see women but under neath women are very different than what men think.

My artist inspiration for my piece was Rene Magritte son of man". I like how in his painting he had the pear cover the man’s face. I did the same thing that Rene did with the pear but instead of the pear I used flowers to cover the womens face. He puts illogical images with startling clarity. "Son of Man" had a purpose , to show the conflict between the visible that is present and the invisible that is hidden. This goes towards my dry point because I want to show how women are seen as delicate but are not seen as strong and wised. It is a matter of how different everyones interpretation is when looking at someone based off their gender.

Reflection:
While looking at my piece I can say that I do like it, it is clear but then at the same time it is not as clear as I wanted it to be. The only change that I would want to do was probably put more detail into the flower that is in frnt the womens face and I could have possibly done a nice background within the drypoint as well.
The hardest thing doing this process was taking off all the extra ink that wasn't needed in the piece. It was rough taking that thick ink off, as well as making sure you have a good outcome of a clear printing. On my first try it was horrible, it came so unclear but I noticed I had to carve out a bit harder in order to get it bolder on the paper, so I tried that and it worked. Dry point is quite a long process but it is a really cool art piece to do. Overall I can say i do like my piece butthere are some changes that I would do with this piece.

ACT questions:
1.) The art inspirations for this piece had made it so much easier of what to sketch that I wanted to make. As well as how the meaning could be expressed from the visual. For the meaning of the artists piece has a strong meaning that I wanted to covey a similar meaning as well.
2.) The overall approach the author has regarding the topic of my inspiration is to convey the meaning taht the artist wanted to show throughout his piece. Whcih I thought was very interesting to know about . It was a very strong meaning that the author analyzed from the piece from Rene Magritte.
3.) The only conclusion that I discovered was that in life many people have visual interpretations about themselves and as well as hidden ones. One may be seen my physical and visual features but then they have something that noone quites know about for it is very sacred.
The overall approach that Rene Magritte is showing is that the visualers only see with their eyes but nothing more on to analyze someone or something.
5.) Some inferences that I made from the research was that Renes approach towards visual interpretations do make sense of what people do when analyzing someone. The reason I feel Rene made this approach was to inform the visualers on how they approach things when they should approach it differently.
